iNotePad 2

How to import iNotePad 1.x data in iNotePad 2 ?

Actually, you cannot import iNotePad 1.x data in iNotePad 2, but you can export with iNotePad 1.6.2 your data to iNotePad 2:

  • Quit iNotePad 2.
  • Launch iNotePad 1.6.2 carbon and select the database you want to export (if you use several databases).
  • Decrypt any encrypted notes or folders
  • Select "Export to iNotePad 2" in the File Menu.
  • Click Export and wait for the confirmation dialog.
  • Launch iNotePad 2.
  • The exported database will appear in the database popup menu.

There are many other answers to common questions in iNotePad online FAQ, in iNotePad Help menu.

X Font Manager / X Font Info

Everytime I quit X Font Manager, I get an 'unexpected quit' error message.

Try to rename the app to something different. (Adding a space to the end of the application name should be enough.)

How to "open" a (bitmap) font suitcase and change its content ?

Do you remember System 6? It's back again! The only way to edit the content of a font suitecase is to use a very old Apple utility called Font DA Mover (available from Apple FTP site). Be careful, when you launch Font DA Mover (in Classic), it will open Mac OS 9 system file and display all fonts installed in your Classic Font folder. Don't modify it. Just close it, then open the suitcase you want to edit. Of course, you should first backup the font suitcase you want to modify!

FontBuddy

Will FontBuddy 2 run on 68K or with Mac OS 7.x?

No, I'm very sorry, but FontBuddy 2 won't run on earlier hardwares and Mac OS. It's already quite difficult to keep Mac OS 8.1 compatility and to use MacOS 8.5 or 9.0 features at the same time. Building a 68K version of FontBuddy 2 would be too time consuming.

Will FontBuddy 2 work with Mac OS X?

FontBuddy 2 runs in the classic environment of Mac OS X. There won't be a carbon version of FontBuddy. That doesn't mean that FontBuddy will never run on Mac OS X, but that I want to rewrite it from scratch in cocoa, one day...

Will FontBuddy 2 be able to print uninstalled fonts?

Yes, FontBuddy 2 can print index of uninstalled fonts thanks to the Font Browser.

When launching FontBuddy 2, the application quits with a 1010 error!

Make sure you have Apple's QuickTime installed in your system.

iNotePad 1.x

iNotePad becomes very slow on Mac OS X 10.x

Try to delete iNotePad preferences !

I've just installed iNotePad 1.0. But the second time I launched it, it crashed!

It's a known bug of iNotePad 1.0. It is corrected in iNotePad 1.0.1.

I can't click on a URL (link) in a note

Command-Click inside a url will open it!

When iNotePad does save its notes?

iNotePad saves its note database, everytime you switch to another note, but also when the application goes in background.

Sometimes, clicking on iNotePad minimized floating window does not bring iNotePad to front!

It seems to be related to a long-standing Mac OS bug. Installing the extension TSM Fix 1.0.3 (5K) fixes the problem.

Everytime I quit iNotePad, I get an 'unexpected quit' error message.

Try to rename the app to something different. (Adding a space to the end of the application name should be enough.)

Mac OS Items Manager

I'm using Mac OS 8.1 in one of the supported languages, but MacOS Items Manager says that it does not work with that version of MacOS !

MacOS Items Manager assumes you use Contextual Menu Items. In that case, there is a folder called "Contextual Menu Items" in your system folder. I cannot remember why, but Mac OS 8.1 does not always create this folder. Thus, MacOS Items Manager thinks you are using an unsupported version of Mac OS.

You just have to create this folder, and MacOS Items Manager will work.

I've got a "Fatal Error # 4" when I click on restart button. I'm using MacOS Items Manager 1.6.2.

It's a known bug of MacOS IM 1.6.2. It is fixed in MacOS IM 1.6.3.

I've installed MacOS Items Manager on my mac, and used it to disabled some fonts. Now my Mac crashes all the time!

Since MacOS Items Manager is not a real Control Panel, but an application, it could not crash your mac when it is not running (i.e., when its main window is closed). However, if you use it to disable fonts that may be used by MacOS, you can get unexpected results.

For example, you should never disable 'Chicago', 'Geneva' and 'Monaco'. Also, be sure not to disable one of the font selected in Appearance Control Panel or in Finder Preferences (Edit Menu).

@-time 2.x
Mac OS 8/9: When some applications are running, I'm unable to move @-time floating window.

It seems to be related to a long-standing Mac OS bug. Installing the extension TSM Fix 1.0.3 (5K) fixes the problem.
